Venus The Body (aka. Jean Smyle)
Jean was a very popular Pin-Up model throughout the 1950’s.. But began her Burlesque career in the chorus line at the 'GRAND Theatre' in St. Louis.. In 1952, she would dye her hair blonde and dance under the name: "Roxanne".. But it wasn’t until she met up with Lillian Hunt at the 'New Follies Theatre', that her dancing career really took off! She changed her name to "Venus The Body" and toured nationwide as a Feature Act.. In 1955, she married L.A. musician Harold Hidey.. And in the late 50’s, wrote "The Strippers’ Schoolbook"; and ran a "School For Strippers" for a time.. By 1959, she had virtually retired from the stage; to concentrate on re-inventing herself as a 'Glamour Photographer', not unlike Bunny Yeager..
