THESE BARS AREN’T CANDY

Vintage press photo dated from October of ‘57, features Candy Barr behind the bars of a courthouse prison, after losing an appeal to overturn a ridiculous 15-year sentence for marijuana possession.. Many speculate that the severity of her sentence had more to do with Ms. Barr’s association to Mickey Cohen (and hence, organized crime).
Fortunately, she would only end up serving 3 Years + 91 Days in a Huntsville prison, before finally being released..

Designs On A Showgirl
"Aleene Dupree" was the star of the 1946 movie: “HOLLYWOOD REVELS”; as produced by Roadshow productions.. By the early 50’s, Aleene would dance briefly under the (slightly-altered) name: I-Leen.. When she began performing her Afro-Cuban dances in Mexico, audiences began referring to her as 'calentador'; which was Spanish for "heater".. As a result, she decided to change her name finally to: Kalantan..
